Superintendent of Police
The method of selection
for the assistant Superintendent of Police is done by competitive
Civil Services Examination for which the following are the
eligibility conditions:
- A Candidate must be a Citizen of
India
- A Candidate must have attained the
age of 21 years and must not have more than 30 years of
age.
- The upper age limit prescribed will
be relaxable:
(a) Up to maximum of 5 years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs
who have completed an initial period of assignment of
five years military service and whose assignment has been
extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry
of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for
civil employment and they will be released on 3 months
notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer
of appointment.
(b) Up to a maximum of 10 years candidates belonging to
Schedule Cast or Schedule Tribes who are also ECOs and
SSCOs and have completed an initial period of assignment
of five years of military service and whose assignment
has been extended beyond 5 years and in whose case the
ministry of defence issues a certificate that they can
apply for Civil Employment and that they will be released
on 3 months notice on selection from the date of the receipt
of offer of appointment.
(c) Up to a maximum of 3 years candidates belonging to
other backward classes who are eligible to avail of reservation
applicable to such candidates.
- The above prescribed age can in no
case be relaxed.
- The date of birth accepted by the
Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary
School Leaving Certificate or in a Certificate recognized
by Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation in
an extract from a register or matriculates maintained
by university, which extract must be certified by the
proper authority of the university or in the higher secondary
or an equivalent examination certificate.
Educational Qualification
A candidate must hold
a Degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an act
of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational
Institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared
to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University
Grands Commission act 1956 or posses an equivalent qualification.
The competitive examination
comprises two successive stages
- Civil services (preliminary) examination
(objective type) for the selection of candidates for main
examination
- Civil services (main) examination
(written and interview) for the selection of candidates
for various services and posts.

A candidate seeking admission
to the preliminary examination must apply to the Under Secretary
(CSP) Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, (Post
Bag No. 2), New Delhi - 110011, through the application Form.
