The success of any organization
ultimately depends on its Human resources. This is especially
true of service organizations like the Police which is responsible
for the state's internal security. Maintenance to law &
order at a satisfactory level as a pre-requisite to socio-economic
development, has to go hand in hand with respect to protection
of Human Rights.
Harmonizing these two
basic requirements of civil society calls for personnel with
high mental abilities and a balanced temperament, apart from
good physical fitness. Considering the complex and sensitive
nature of police activities it was considered essential that
recruitment and selection into police posts should be done
independently without the involvement of any other organization.
The Andhra Pradesh government in 1986 constituted the State
Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) with a senior officer
of the rank of Addl DGP / DGP as the Chairman.
