Tjhis force aids the local police in tackling major law and order problems like anti-extremist, natural calamities, riots etc both within and outside the state. Comprising of 13 battalions, the APSP forms about 1/6 of the state police force.

History

The wing investigates cases pertaining to misappropriation, cheating, forgery, counterfeit currency, cyber crimes and major frauds, scams and other white collar offences. The wing collects intelligence on the above categories of crime and undertakes analysis. It also liases with other Economic Enforcement agencies like Income-Tax Department, Customs & Central Excise, Reserve Bank of India, Commercial Banks etc. in the discharge of its functions. It advises the Government on the enactment of suitable acts/Laws in this sphere.

Training

In APSP, training is identified as key enabler. In today's fast changing internal security scenario where disruptive and terrorist forces adopt latest techniques in low intensified warfare, a force like the APSP has to be kept battle worthy at all times to meet any challenge likely to be thrown up by such elements.

Such preparedness is possible only through constant up-gradation of skills through training. The APSP has targeted 100 per cent refresher training for all its men and officers at least once a year. In-service courses are organized in all battalions regularly with this objective in mind. The APSP being the feeder force to the district and city armed reserves in the state, induction training is also provided to fresh recruits.
