History
This academy was established
in 1986 and the corner stone of the institutionwas laid by
the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, late N T Rama Rao,
who elevated the police training to a new height. The present
campus became functional in 1993.
The academy has been rated
as the 'bench mark institution' for the police training in
the country by the Quality Audit Team of the Government of
India. lt is also recognised as the Regional Training Centre
by the National Crime Records Bureau and conducts courses
on behalf of Narcotic Control Bureau, National Human Rights
Commission, Bureau of Police Research and Development, Bureau
of Civil Aviation and Security and International Committee
of Red Cross, etc, from time to time.
The challenge of the academy,
today, is not to retain its unmatched distinction in the field
of police training, but to ensure continuous improvement in
pursuit of its mission, "To impart professional training
of outstanding quality to frontline police executives and
others connected with criminal justice system in orderto enable
them to serve the community in consonance with law, understanding
its expectation and respecting the rights of the people in
the cause of peace, tranquility, safety and security in the
society and position the academy as a center of excellence
in the field of police training".
